Research Interests

Mollie’s interests lie within the intersections of law, politics, philosophy, and power. This includes issues of social justice, human rights, international law, constitutional law, and laws affecting the LGBTQ+ community. Mollie’s doctoral research is an empirical socio-legal project investigating legal gender recognition with a specific focus on the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the non-binary community. Mollie has collected quantitative and qualitative data using an online survey and interviews with the trans and non-binary community. The aim of the project is to conduct a detailed analysis of legal gender recognition provisions and explore possible options for reform which could increase the number of people currently applying for legal gender recognition.
